About Me

My name is Charlotte and I thought I would tell you a little about myself and why I opened my prim store.

I was always fascinated from a young age watching my Mother sew, I remember going to sleep as a child listening to the distant whirring of her old Bernina. Newly married in my early Twenties, I developed a real love of cross stitch and spent all my spare time making small pictures, cards and Christmas decorations. I joined British Airways as Cabin Crew, and flying to Scandinavian countries around Christmas time really inspired me. Every building there seemed to be decorated. Lit cream pillar candles on reception desks in Hotels, rosy red apples placed in plant pots on front porches, so beautiful and simple yet effective. It all added to a lovely warm and cosy feel. Visits to the States introduced me to the American Primitive and Country look. That’s when I knew my heart was with Prim!

My Mother in Law Nu, was a gifted seamstress. She taught me how to use a sewing machine and helped set up my first few craft tables. Motherhood stopped me flying and I started crafting in earnest, supplying numerous gift shops and selling in Pannier markets. I am a frequent visitor to Tavistock, an ancient Stannary town on the edge of Dartmoor. It has a vibrant Pannier market and has been voted “Best market town in Britain” You can find out all about Tavistock on my favourite links page.

My business started in 2001 and I love what I do. I'm very lucky to be able to work from home doing a job I adore. In 2004 I joined the eBay community and have made many friends there. You can check out my eBay listings by clicking the link on the left of this page. I now have many wonderful loyal customers who I hope will also come and visit me here in The Homespun Loft. Opening a webstore is something I have wanted to do for a long time and I am thrilled to get the chance now.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and I hope you enjoy visiting my store. Remember I am only a click away and would be delighted to hear from you if you have any questions.

Hugs

Charlotte xx
